Không phải ở những kho vũ khí đầy súng ống,
Hay tìm trong các đoàn quân sáng quắc gươm đao,
Ta có thể xóa tan bao tối tăm tàn bạo,
Để cánh cửa tự do rộng mở cho muôn loài.
Nguồn dũng khí không nằm trong quyền năng thống trị,
Không ở người dạ thú hay lắm bạc nhiều vàng.
Mà dũng khí nằm sâu trong mỗi một con người,
Để khơi nguồn lực này cần dụng công thích đáng.
TÍN lực, chìa khóa đầu tiên mở cửa thành công,
Tin đuốc tuệ soi đường đưa ta về nẻo thiện.
Niềm tin là chất liệu dưỡng nuôi lòng can đảm,
Tinh TẤN giúp hoàn thiện mình và được an vui.
Nhưng…
Nguy hiểm vẫn rập rình trong ngõ ngách con tim,
Để tránh bẫy, cần có NIỆM hộ trì nghiêm mật.
Chặn đường tấn công và khắc ghi lòng tự trọng,
Tâm ‘tàm’ sẽ giúp ta không lầm lạc lối về.
Với tâm ĐỊNH ta hiểu mình sống cùng người khác,
Ta đẹp trong mắt người bằng tâm ‘quý’ trang nghiêm.
Hành vi thiếu nghĩ suy thường tạo nên quả đắng,
Khơi nguồn tâm giữ mình tránh vực thẳm hố sâu.
Đường giải thoát không sẵn dành người yếu đuối,
Cũng không phải cho người thất vọng, tự cảm thương.
Trên đường ấy, chỉ có người không ngừng dõng tiến,
Những người hùng thật sự, biết làm chủ tâm mình.
Ta từng quờ quạng trong đêm dày đặc mù sương,
Lang thang mãi trong mê cung chập chùng sanh tử.
Đã đến lúc cần đốt lên đuốc TUỆ rạng ngời,
Soi tỏ lối cho ta về bờ giác an vui.
Bậc Đại Giác dạy ta cần năm lực đủ đầy,
Để khi xung trận ta luôn là người chiến thắng.
Bao tiền bối nêu gương lành cho dân cho nước,
Hãy thắp sáng mặt trời trí tuệ giữa trần gian.
HOW TO BECOME A POWERFUL PERSON (By Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi)
It is not through arsenals stacked with lethal weapons
Nor by battalions of lightning-swift troops
That we can vanquish the forces of darkness
And open the gates to freedom for the world.
The source of true power lies not in domination
By the brute force of armies or the bright lure of gold.
The source lies hidden deep within ourselves,
But to find it we must use the appropriate tools.
The first key to success is the power of faith,
Trust in a supreme wisdom that points us to the good.
Faith settles the mind and inspires us with courage,
Inciting us to deeds of joyful self-transcendence.
But the agents of harm lurk in the mind’s dark shadows,
Ready to spring their traps when our vigilance slackens.
To stem their attacks and sustain our self-respect
The power of shame keeps us firmly on the path.
Contemplate deeply our relatedness to others,
Consider the value of esteem in others’ eyes.
Reflecting on the bitter fruits of thoughtless deeds,
Let the power of moral dread hold us back from the abyss.
The path to liberation is not for the weak,
Nor for those given to self-pity and despair.
It is only by the invigorating power of energy
That we can become heroes, true masters of our minds.
Traveling by night, enveloped in dense mist,
We have wandered pointlessly in the maze of birth and death.
Now use the power of wisdom as the light
To guide our steps to the shore of final freedom.
Equipped with these five powers taught by the Great Sage
We rise up as conquerors stronger than any foes.
Masters of ourselves, examples for the nation,
We illuminate the world like the blazing noontime sun.
